Bio

Margarita Flores was born in Michoacan, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States when she was 14 years old. As the oldest of 14 brothers and sisters, Margarita has long carried responsibilities, not only for herself but also for those around her. Her own six kids are now all grown, and she continues to commit herself to leadership and public service.

For over 40 years, Margarita has served her community in various capacities. From her time working as a community organizer for the Industrial Areas Foundation to becoming the first Latina President of the student council at Fuller Theological Seminary while receiving her Masters's Degree. Her faith in God has led her to serve as a Pastoral Associate and Parish Life Director. Additionally, Margarita has been trained to support Domestic Violence survivors, working as a Life Coach for Chicana Service Action and now supporting the formerly incarcerated through restorative justice programs.

Margarita's long history of community involvement is a testament to her commitment and hope in our neighborhoods. She knows what it feels like to struggle, and she knows what it takes to succeed. As a woman of faith, she has followed the path set for her, to be of service; for herself, her family, and her community.

Now, Margarita is asking for your support to become the next Mayor of the City of Compton. As your Mayor and together, "WE WILL ACHIEVE." Build strategies to reduce the city's crime rate. Financial and leadership development to improve programs to benefit our future challenges. Equip our schools with tools and resources for the youth to progress on first-level careers Work to unify our community to reach our fullest potential.
